More reliable Slate for Canva

Slate for Canva has been available for about a month. We are watching how it performs, talking with course authors, and putting reliability first. The first app update adds a recovery path if the app gets stuck; it has been approved by Canva and is being translated, with launch planned for the week of September 20. Next: a faster generation path that handles larger presentations more dependably.

Claude connector

We're working toward an official Claude connector that lists Slate MCP before the end of 2026, so connecting your course library is a one-click install. Anthropic controls the review and approval timeline.

  • Memories in live voice course planning. Use the course context, image preferences, and writing style you save as Memories when you plan a course with Live Voice, so Slate AI starts with the direction you have already set.
  • Longer Live Voice conversations. Remove the 10-minute limit on each Live Voice conversation, so course planning can continue without restarting a chat. Your plan's monthly Live Voice minutes still apply.
  • Customizable translation glossary. Teach AI course translation your preferred terms once, and have them respected every time. Define brand names, product names, acronyms, and industry jargon in a glossary you maintain, so you stop making the same corrections after every translation. Pro feature.
  • Dynamic Themes. Update your brand colours, fonts, or border radius in one place and apply changes across every deployed course automatically. When your brand guidelines change, your training stays current.
  • Shared block templates. Create reusable block templates shared across your team. Build once, use everywhere to keep courses consistent.
  • Vibe code your theme. Describe the look and feel you want and let AI generate a custom theme for your courses.
  • Slate AI presets. Save multiple Slate AI configurations and quick-swap between them with a dropdown. Useful for agencies juggling clients or in-house L&D teams supporting multiple departments — switch the full personalization set (Course context, Image prompt, Writing style) in one click instead of editing each field individually.
  • Canva image passthrough. Option to use images from your Canva presentation in the generated course instead of AI placeholders. Keep your original visuals when they suit the content.

A new Settings, Credits page shows every AI credit your account has used or refilled, with timestamps and a breakdown by feature so you can see exactly how your monthly balance is being spent. On Pro team plans, admins and owners get a workspace view that reveals which member spent what.

Connect Slate to the OpenAI Codex desktop app and draft, review, and share courses end to end. Claude was the first supported MCP client; Codex is the second, with a dedicated ChatGPT plugin planned next.

A curated log of the customer-facing improvements shipped over the last six months.

  • Faster, smaller AI-generated images. Slate now uses Gemini 3.1 Flash Image for AI image generation. In our tests, it delivers results faster and at smaller file sizes by default, while keeping the same 1K image resolution.
  • Easier access to Slate AI Memories. The AI preferences you already set in Settings are now called Memories and available directly in Course Chat and Lesson Chat. Update your course context, image preferences, and writing style without leaving your conversation.
  • Smoother Slate AI conversations. Course and Lesson Chat carry your typed message and focus smoothly into a new conversation. On phones, chat stays above the keyboard with predictable scrolling, safe-area spacing, and comfortable screen-edge gutters.
  • Your theme hover colour across the Player. The cover-page start button and optional scroll indicator now use your chosen theme hover colour, matching the Player's other primary actions.
  • Export every course language to Word or PDF. Download Word or PDF versions of a course in its original language and every saved translation, all together in one download. Each document is clearly labelled by language, and its headings, labels, and answer keys are translated too.
  • Clearer, more reliable Slate MCP connections. Connected-app screens use familiar client logos and explain permissions more clearly. If course generation is interrupted, Slate can safely resume the same request without creating a duplicate course or charging the credits twice.
  • A reading font learners can choose. Learners can switch to Atkinson Hyperlegible Next in the Player to make similar letters easier to distinguish. It is available on every plan for supported course languages and is included in new course exports.
  • More dependable translated courses. Assessment questions, feedback, saved answers, and revealed answers now stay in the language the learner selected. Courses with saved translations also export more reliably.
  • More reliable media in shared previews. Uploaded images, audio, video, and downloads stay available during longer viewing sessions and return cleanly after a temporary loading problem.
  • More reliable credit pack purchases. First-time credit pack checkout now works smoothly for Free accounts, including payment methods that settle later. Credits are applied after payment completes and protected against duplicate fulfilment.
  • More resilient Rise imports. Slate now recognizes course data stored in runtime-data.js, a structure used by current Articulate Rise packages. Single and Pro batch imports share the improved discovery path.
  • Choose your AI generation model. Choose Gemini 3.7 Flash for faster generation, or keep Gemini 3.1 Pro as the default, in Slate's built-in course and lesson chat. This choice does not apply to Slate for Canva or course generation through Slate MCP.
  • A smoother Player on phones and narrow LMS windows. The Player now prepares its theme, logo, language, and accessibility preferences as one clean first frame. Course headers, cover pages, navigation, carousels, and knowledge-check feedback adapt more reliably to narrow screens, while dark themes keep their intended canvas and contrast.
